Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people who must keep a logbook as part of the Land Transport Rule: “Work time and Logbooks 2007″ compliance.
You must comply with work and rest time rules if in any cumulative work period, you drive a vehicle that:
- Requires a Class 2,3,4 or 5 license
- Is used in transport service (other than a rental service)
- Is used in circumstances in which the vehicle must, or ought to be operated under a Transport Service License (TSL)
- Is used to carry goods for hire or reward

About Course
Completing this course will give you a better understanding of the required rules to avoid infringement fees and penalties as well as enables drivers who have received a logbook diversion to complete the activation required within a given timetable to avoid full prosecution.
This course is not NZTA approved course or NZQA Unit Standard course, although it covers all knowledge required in Unit Standard 24089. If you need to complete Unit Standard 24089 and have NZQA Credits registered, you need to choose the course option below or please contact us for further information.
Course duration
The total time is around 75-90 minutes to complete the course. There are 45 minutes of video split over 13 lessons. After each lesson there are between 10-25 questions to answer. Trainees can take each lesson as many times as necessary until they understand it. Each module takes just a few minutes so can be done in downtime. Once the course is completed, a certificate of course completion can be printed.
*You have full access to all modules and lessons for 6 month to complete this course.

Course consists of three main modules that are consist of lessons and quizzes. Each lesson has a video. The video gives detailed explanations of the Work Time and Logbooks 2007 Rule section to help you understand the concepts about log books and work and rest time regulations. After each lesson you have questions to complete. The questions help you to reinforce gained knowledge. In the questions, we cover the important information you must know as well as the standard information displayed on the logbook sheets so that you can test your knowledge in a real-world situation (i.e. the sheets contain simply time, location and whether it was work or rest time, as opposed to showing additional working). Once all the modules and lessons complete you will have final quiz . Providing that you pass the final quiz you will be able to print your certificate of course completion.

A class room training and assessment takes around 3-5 hours to complete.

Course progression
Work Time and Logbook Course consists of a two parts: Online course, and Class room training and assessment.
1) Online course part consists of three main modules that are consist of lessons and quizzes. Each lesson has a video. The video gives detailed explanations of the Work Time and Logbooks 2007 Rule section to help you understand the concepts about log books and work and rest time regulations. After each lesson you have questions to complete. The questions help you to reinforce gained knowledge. In the questions, we cover the important information you must know as well as the standard information displayed on the logbook sheets so that you can test your knowledge in a real-world situation (i.e. the sheets contain simply time, location and whether it was work or rest time, as opposed to showing additional working). Once all the modules and lessons complete you will have final quiz . Providing that you pass the final quiz you will be able to print your certificate of course completion.
2) Class room training and assessment consist of completing a trainee activity booklet with various interactive tasks, to help you understand the concepts about log books and work and rest time regulations, followed by closed book written assessment.
Course Pre-requisites
You must have a minimum of a Class 1 Learner Licence and access to a computer, tablet or smartphone.
On successful completion of this course
You will receive a NZTA course certificate to show that you successfully completed the NZTA Approved Work Time & Logbook Course. A letter of “Evidence of NZTA approved course Attendance” and NZQA level 3, 5 credits.
